Part-time School Bus Driver (5 hours/Day Split Shift) Starting at $20.00/hour Benefits are included. Experienced preferred but will train. 25 hours a week guaranteed with the opportunity for additional hours through field trips and charters.Required Qualifications: If you are not a licensed bus driver, we do have a training program.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Appropriate license endorsement.
- Must pass DOT physical and drug test
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must have clear driving record
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Maintains confidentiality, and possesses unquestionable integrity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Can prioritize multiple tasks, work under stress, meet deadlines and take direction.
- Can work with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to perform general operations, which require the exercise of judgment, based upon knowledge gained through experience.
ADA Requirement
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties, including lifting twenty (20) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Assumes personal responsibility for obeying all traffic laws and for compliance with the regulations of the Department of Public Safety governing the operation of school buses.
- Assumes major responsibility for the safety of children on the bus conforming to safety regulations.
- Conducts a daily safety check of the bus. Cleans the bus daily.
- Reports damages to the interior of the bus to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. Reports behavior problems and student damage to the bus to the school administration.
- Follows assigned schedule, arriving at school with students no earlier than necessary and discharging students only at authorized stops.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Performs other duties as requested by the transportation supervisor or school director.
